01/16/2025 - The library board has refused to provide detailed descriptions of purchased items (book name, plumbing repair, new computer, etc.). This should be standard information included on any Income/Expense Report (just like the county and city does), yet they refuse to provide it. A memo field is already on the default QuickBooks report for each purchase; however, the bookkeeper (Connie Barg, Chair, Treasurer, Bookkeeper) refuses to enter descriptions of items purchased into that field by copying/pasting from the source or typing it manually. The library board says they do not have to provide this information because they do not have the technical expertise to perform a Copy/Paste operation or do not have the time to manually enter it (per a discussion with Alice Tweedie, Secretary, on 12/16/2024). Only 25 line-item descriptions would have needed to be copied/pasted or manually entered for October 2024. So, I don't believe this would have taken more than 10 minutes.
Therefore, by not describing each purchase (book name, plumbing repair, new computer, etc.), the library board is not transparent about how public money is spent (when the county and city are). See the county claims reports here. Consequently, the report cannot be provided here accurately without appealing their refusal to the Clark County District Court and winning in court.
This lack of transparency can lead to public distrust and questions about the library board's financial management.
